Admit it, most of us are always looking forward for Christmas. Why is it though? Is it cause of the presents we will receive; the fancy food we will partake; or the lights, the pretty decorations, and the songs we will hear everywhere? Truly, this festivity brings so much joy that we couldn’t help but celebrate. However, what does Christmas really mean to us and why do we need to commemorate it?

We always have to go back to the real reason why we have this season. We remember the birth of our Lord and Saviour’s only son, Jesus Christ. As what the verse in the book of John says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believed in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) The birth of Jesus Christ granted us salvation from all our sins and it is right and just that we give back what truly belongs to Him this Christmas. Love, to love God above all things and our neighbours as we have loved ourselves.

It is bewildering to imagine that through the unconditional love of our God the Father, we are here on earth experiencing the beauty of his creation. We are given the opportunity to be entertained and be joyful with our loved ones, those who truly matter to us.
So, I hope that during this season, we will not fail to recognise the purpose of the celebration. The opportunity to bless others as how God has blessed us. May everyone realise that the truth about Jesus will set us free, free from our worries, our concerns and our own agendas and be focused on living a life filled with God’s grace.

Pause. Pray. Thank our Creator for all the blessing we have received for the past year and the coming years. Claim that He fulfils His promises to us. He will as long as we have faith in Him.
May we all have a meaningful Christmas season. God bless us all.
